Becoming a Volunteer Firefighter or EMT Our Fire Department relies heavily upon the people in it's community. It's those people who volunteer their time to become firefighters, EMT's and sometimes both, and help their community in times of need. They go above and beyond for the community and for eachother. We train these people to the IFSAC Firefighter 1 level, and our medical staff, to the Washington State EMT-B or First Responder Level. The Fire Academy is held once per year starting in March, but pre-requisite training starts in January at our department. EMT school is also held once per year starting in January.
