CW FIRE KIDS!!

Fire Engines! Fire Engines! Fire Engines!

Keeping our kids safe from fire and other hazards is one of our top priorities at CW Fire. We work non stop all year to provide station tours, engine rides, fire safety presentations, and of course the Santa Mobile.

Another very important way we teach our kids is by what's known all over the country as FIRE SAFETY WEEK. We roll out our Children's Fire Safety House, and teach our kids how to escape from their homes if a fire was to happen. They also learn what we firefighters look like when we're all dressed up in our protective gear (We're a little scary to some kids). Other very important lessons are learned during our presentations: How to call 911, Stop Drop and Roll, not to hide, how to alert firefighters when you're on the 2nd floor, and where your safe meeting place is (parents should always have a safe meeting place). The older kids get a fire extinguisher demonstration and get to flow some water out of one our fire engine hoses.

During Fire Safety Week the kids take home homework and when completed they get a Fire Safety Kids Certificate. We also draw names from every grade, and the winners get to come to our firehouse for Pizza and Ice Cream!

We've consistently found that kids love Fire Engines! The big red engines with the bright lights and loud sirens. And we like to take advantage of that. We can really hold their attention if we reward them with an engine ride. And actually it's the best part of the job!

During our engine show and tells, we open every compartment, and show the kids the "Jaws of Life", our medical equipment, all of the big heavy tools and axes, we put on our gear and go "on air" and show them we're not as scary as Darth Vader, and we flow some water from the Deck Gun on top of the engine. That seems to get them pretty excited and ready for................The Fire Engine Ride!

And as you can see, the parents also love to get in on the action.

If you're interested in an Engine or Station Tour please call us at 360-678-3602, our firefighters would more than happy to show you around.
